Airwave XL Arm: A Necessity for getting Stable Shots from Moving Platforms!

Anyone that has tried to capture a good chase or action sequence from a moving platform knows how difficult it can be to get a stable and naturally smooth shot. The Proaim Airwave XL Arm works in conjunction with the Gimbal and assists in Removing High-Frequency Vibrations and Damping Low-Frequency Oscillations.

The Stainless-Steel Springs absorbs the shocks, bumps and jerks experienced on a moving vehicle and the Custom-Made Dampers dampen the movement of the Arm and only transfer a softer and smoother range of vibrations to the Gimbal. This softer range of vibrations can easily be corrected by the Gimbal, resulting in extremely natural and smooth video output.

We have spent countless hours in perfecting the shock absorption and damping action of the Arm to suit varied types of setups you may want to use with the Arm. This has been made possible by designing Custom Stainless-Steel Springs and Custom Actuator Hydraulic Dampers.

To quickly adapt the Springs to the setup weight, all we need to do is, easily adjust the spring tension with the help of the included Allen Key and it'll perform optimally for loads of up to 143lbs/65kgs. Not just the Spring Tension, you can quickly adjust the damping action of all axes, vertical, tilt and roll depending on the load placed on the Arm and how fast you plan on going. The damping can be adjusted with a knob that has 22 steps, to precisely dial in the exact amount of damping you need for your shot.

Quick, Easy and Reliable Setup

Mounting a Camera Setup reliably to a Moving Platform can require lots of additional grip and rigging. This takes time and doesn't guarantee that the output would be completely smooth. The Airwave XL Arm can be securely attached to any Scaffold Pole with quick-lock Scaff Mechanism which is extremely robust and stable.

Mounting your camera setup to your Arm is extremely easy, and you can mount the Ronin M/MX directly to the Arm with the use of Ronin Quick Release provided with the Airwave. All other Major Gimbal Systems can be mounted similarly by the use of a Quick Release plate available on our website.

If you hard-mount a gimbal setup to a moving platform, any jerky movement creates an enormous amount of stress on the Motors and Bearings of the Gimbal as it tries to stabilize the camera.

High-Frequency Vibrations created by moving parts such as motors, rotor blades or propellers and Low Frequency are all absorbed by the sudden changes in direction are all absorbed by the Arm's Springs and Dampers. This reduces the stress on your gimbal motors that now have to work only to stabilize a softened range of vibrations which in turn increases the life of your Gimbal.
